Y’all, it’s finally starting to feel like the holiday season, so what better way to bring it in than with this DIY holly wreath? This DIY wreath is the most perfect way to adorn your front door for the Christmas time. I made a wreath prior to this with dried fall leaves and I realized that we have a HUGE holly tree out in our yard, two actually, so I thought I’d make a fresh holly wreath. You can also use dried leaves from the holly tree and dried holly berries if that is what you have on hand.

I don’t know about you, but, I love bringing nature into our home for decor wherever I can. To me, I feel like natural materials just bring a whole different cozy aspect to a home in any season. In the spring and summer time, I bring in fresh flowers. In the fall, dried leaves and dried flowers. So, in the wintertime, I like to bring in real evergreens and pine cones to really spice up the festive season and my Christmas decorations! So, now let’s get into making your own DIY Christmas wreath!
How To Make The DIY Holly Wreath
So, while there are quite a few different ways you can make your own wreath, this is how I will be doing mine. Below, I will be adding some optional wreath ideas if you prefer another idea!
For this holly Christmas wreath, you will need a grapevine wreath, scissors, and real holly branches with bright red berries. That’s it, so simple and so easy.

Step #1: Acquire all of your tools and things that you need and head to your nearest holly tree to cut some holly leaves and branches. I used about 20-25 cuttings for this wreath. So, if you want a fresh wreath that’s not so full, don’t cut as many branches. If you want to cover the entire wreath, then cut as many branches as you need to fill up your festive holly wreath.

Step #2: After you’ve cut your fresh greenery, all you have to do is take a few of the bottom leaves off of each branch. Then, just stick the bottoms of the branches into the grapevine wreath. The woven wreath makes the cut greenery stay in without floral wire or a hot glue gun. If you’d like to know that your branches will stay for certain in your wreath, you can hot glue these leaves and branches onto the grapevine wreath. Then just repeat this step until you have your finished wreath looking how you love it!

Step #3: Hang your wreath! An easy way to hang this wreath is on a command hook. You can also use ribbon to hang your wreath I have a whole blog post here about how you can hang your wreaths with ribbon. Just tie your ribbon to the top of the wreath and hang it, it’s so easy.
Different Wreath Ideas
If you want to spice up your traditional holiday wreath with more items, I’ve compiled a little list of some good ideas you can do! Here’s the list:

You can dry some orange slices and add them to the wreath, especially easy if you’re going to use a wire wreath frame. Just wrap them with floral wire or attach them with hot glue.
If you want to add more nature to your wreath, you can use pine branches or pinecones.
Want more holly jolly to your holly wreath? Add candy canes, red ribbons, pom poms, or anything that you want to add an extra pop to!
I don’t know about you but I really enjoy DIYing my own holiday decorations. I feel like when you make your own decor it really just adds to the coziness of a home. Also, there’s nothing I love more than being able to make my home cozy with nature for practically nothing! This is such an inexpensive DIY to get you in the Christmas spirit. If you don’t have a holly tree nearby, ask a neighbor or ask on Facebook! You’d be surprised at what people will be willing to give you. If you don’t want to use real holly cuttings, I’ve linked some faux ones below!
