Hey y’all, in today’s post, I will be showing you some of my easy Fall dough bowl decor ideas! I absolutely love decorating for Fall, especially now that I have this beautiful dough bowl. So, if you’re unsure how to decorate a dough bowl, look no further. I am here to help.
I was recently gifted this antique dough bowl from my mom, I am the 5th generation to have it passed down. Now, it has a home as a beautiful centerpiece on our dining room table. I love using family heirlooms as decor, I feel like it adds such character to our home. Additionally, it’s such a great idea to display items passed on from generation to generation.
So, even if you don’t have a dough bowl that’s from family, you can always find one secondhand. As you all know, my favorite places to look are flea markets, an antique store, or a thrift store. You can also find them handmade. Although they may not be vintage dough bowls, they still will make a perfect centerpiece.
In the past, dough bowls were used to mix, raise, and knead bread dough. All different kinds of bread dough! It makes me wonder how many loaves were made in the one I have from many generations ago! I love wondering what my ancestors used to make in this antique dough bowl, and what their process was. I wish I could go back in time and ask my great-grandmother about her grandma’s process for making bread dough. My great-grandmother was such a wonderful cook and baker, there was hardly anything she couldn’t make!
Now, onto my most simple ways to decorate your wooden bowl for your dining table.
Large Centerpiece Decor Idea #1
So, for this first dough bowl decor idea, it’s so simple! Just some Fall floral stems, pine cones, and dried orange slices. Additionally, I placed a battery-operated candle that flickers right in the middle of the dough bowl. I love to use battery-operated candles, especially the ones that flicker, I don’t have to worry about a real flame. Also, I love the peace of mind they bring.
Amazon has beautiful faux stems for the Autumn season, I love this beautiful set. However, Hobby Lobby also has some gorgeous stems for Fall. They look so real but they can be used season after season, which I love.
Also, I went through our yard and grabbed some pinecones. I love using pinecones for decor, they add such warm and natural elements to our home. You could even add in some sticks too if you wanted and you don’t have pinecones.
I dried some orange slices too, I may make a tutorial on them! They’re so easy and fun to add into a bowl as a bowl filler. Also, I made a batch of dried oranges years ago and I still have them. They still look just as good as the day I made them and they look so good in a vintage dough bowl.
Large & Simple Dough Bowl Decor Idea #2
Now, for this idea, I’ve placed faux pumpkins, small pumpkins, wheat stalks, and faux maple leaves. Again, I’ve added the battery-operated pillar candle. Get creative with how you arrange your DIY Fall centerpiece. You could also add in a small block of floral foam to give it some “oomph”.
I picked up the wheat stalk/dried flower mix from our local antique store and the faux pumpkins from Hobby Lobby. I added in the blue and white pumpkins. Also, I love the look of small pumpkins in my simple Fall dough bowl centerpiece.
Now, since this dough bowl decor is very simple for such a large dough bowl, you can totally have a huge Fall tablescape. Placemats, a table runner, and all kinds of Fall decorations. It will be such a beautiful display and focal point for your dining room.
Small Dough Bowl Decor Idea #3
For this dough bowl decor, you can go big or small. I’m opting for this smaller one because I have a different space I want to decorate with! I have this small dough bowl that I purchased from a wonderful antique store. It was handmade locally, it’s not old but, it’s still beautiful nonetheless. For this small and long (ish) dough bowl, I purchased some potpourri from Hobby Lobby. Then, filled it with the wonderful smelling potpourri and mini pumpkins from there too.
From Amazon, I added in some battery-operated taper candles, these have a remote along with them. I love having the smells of the Fall season around, and it’s such a great way to decorate our dinner table. I am sure you can grab some faux pumpkins and Fall leaves from the dollar store as well. However, I’ve heard Dollar General and Dollar Tree both have some great options this year.
Now, that you have some wonderful Fall dough bowl decor ideas, go get creative with your own! Let me know in the comments below how you plan to style your dough bowl! Are you using an antique dough bowl or, are you using a new handmade one? I’d love to hear about all your different Fall dough bowl styles!

Loved reading your blog! Great ideas. I have my MIL’s bread bowl that is worn so badly it cannot be used. A friend is making an arrangement to hang on my wall inside the bowl. Just can’t part with that piece of family history – all those biscuits made in that bowl!
