Meet Hannah From The Local Willow
On a journey to living a simple life full of homemaking, homesteading and living natural.
Hey y’all, I’m Hannah!
Welcome to The Local Willow, a spot where I share things I am passionate about; Natural living, handmaking home from scratch and a simple life.
My husband and I
My husband, Jack, and I, recently got married on Valentine’s Day. We moved into our wonderful home in the south recently. We were living in a 700-square-foot condo in the middle of the city, we were longing for a house in the country! After looking for a very long time, we found the perfect home for us. I’m just glad to not be in the city anymore, I’ve never been a city girl anyway.
When I was a child you could find me in the creek, in the woods, or just outside creating things in general. I had a wonderful friend who kept my creativity alive, and it followed me well into adulthood. If she was still alive, I would simply tell her, “Thank you for encouraging my creativity.”
About Me
I’m from a small town settled in North Carolina. A true southern town. Where you never meet a stranger and someone’s always around to lend a hand of Southern hospitality. I started my life living in the country and quickly realized city life was not for me. I’ve always been a country girl at heart.
I grew up not far from where I live now, a small patch of land at the end of a dirt road. I spent most of my days outside, feeding goats, and playing in the creek or woods with my brother.
I am definitely very health-conscious, some might call me a health nut. I love to find new ways to incorporate natural and healthy living in my day-to-day life… Whether it be making a new, DIY laundry detergent or a bug spray, I’m adding it to my list! Essential oils and herbs are my favorites.
I have a complete obsession with sourdough. Sourdough bread, starter, recipes, you name it I’ll try it. You’re always going to see some sourdough starter fermenting on my counter! (you might even see other things fermenting too.)
I love being creative. You’re always going to find me creating something! Sewing, crocheting, cooking, photography, pressing flowers into a frame, you name it.
A Few Fun Facts About Me
I was homeschooled. I learned about 25 different extracurricular activities in about 10-grade years and was scoring college level at 8 years old in some areas of schooling. I graduated at 17 years old.
I competed in horseback riding and came in first place in my first year of competing.
I have owned over 15 cats for 25 years. Complete cat lady here!
I love being outdoors, whether it be kayaking, gardening, or hiking.. you’ll likely find me outside.
I own my own small business, The Local Willow. I started it about a year and a half ago, mainly through Facebook and Etsy. I wanted to spread my wings a little more sharing what I’m passionate about, creating and writing. I hope you all enjoy my blog. I hope you stay and visit awhile!
